SEVERAL MEETINGS WERE HELD IN THE CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

Today, April 29, the Central Election Commission met with the delegations headed by the Coordinator of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Observer Group, Sergey Rachkov, the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan, Nurjan Shaildabekova, the Secretary of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan, Amangeldi Annadurdiyev, the member of the Supreme Election Council of Turkey, Ali Urker, the project manager of the “Diplomatic World Institute”, who came to our country to observe the preparation and holding of the referendum in the Republic of Uzbekistan.  

The meetings provided detailed information on the improvement of referendum procedures in line with international standards, systematic work on the preparation and holding of the referendum based on the timetable approved by the CEC and national legislation.

During the discussion, Sergey Rachkov, Coordinator of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Observer Group said “We would like to express our gratitude for the warm welcome by the Central Election Commission. It is worth mentioning that the organizational preparation of the referendum by the Central Election Commission is of great importance for holding the referendum at a high level. We wish the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan success in holding the referendum in accordance with international standards”. During the meeting, Nurjan Shaildabekova, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan, stressed, “We have been cooperating with the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of elections for a long time, participating in election observation missions. It is gratifying that the purpose of our visit is to observe the referendum. We wish the organizers and participants of the referendum success in conducting this process at a high level.”

It was noted at the meetings that international observers visited the referendum commissions in the run-up to the referendum and found that the work was organized at a high level. It was also pointed out that the public was well-informed and that new electoral technologies were used during the referendum.

It should be noted that on April 30, observer missions will observe the process of preparation and holding of the referendum. During their stay in Uzbekistan, the missions visited a number of referendum precincts and will present relevant conclusions and recommendations based on their observations.
